27 April 2011: New CPD module and new journal

A new CPD module is now online and so is the latest issue of the journal, both accessible to members of the CODP.

Members will be able to complete the new module – Assisting in rapid sequence induction: keeping patients safe by Paul A Jeffrey – until 25 June 2011. Another new module is due to become available at the beginning of June.

Members should also be receiving their print copies of the new journal soon in the post. The latest issue includes articles on the new BSc curriculum and what it means for mentors, a report on a visit to a Mercy Ship docked in Sierra Leone, advice on paragraph writing and an update on NHS pensions.

A clinical article looks at the care of obese and morbidly obese patients, and there is a professional paper about the value of case studies and a student article on the ethics of clinical photography.

The online modules are designed to help you to meet HPC requirements for CPD. They should not be viewed as sufficient in themselves, but may provide a valuable addition to your on-going CPD portfolio. The personal statements that you are asked to provide before submitting your answers to the modules can help you in considering how to approach other CPD activities.
